s04e03 “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” – The Good Robot Andys

Discussion, with lots of spoilers of the film The Killing of a Sacred Deer. Andy Balaam thinks it sounds worthy and tiresome, but Andy Cockerill describes an unsettling, grown-up horror film, whose story line is slightly weird, probably because it’s based on an Ancient Greek play.

s04e02 “Annihiliation” – The Good Robot Andys

Discussion, with lots of spoilers of the film Annihilation. For some unknown reason, Andy Balaam starts talking about A Perfect Circle’s Annihilation, which is not very good, but is on the same album as A Perfect Circle’s Imagine, which sounds like an army of zombie hippies is coming to eat your brains, but in a good way. Andy Cockerill tries to ignore all this and gets on with talking about the film, which he says is a visually interesting hard sci-fi story that is original, tense and nicely fooled him. On they way they mention All the Money in the World, Missions and Little Nightmares.

s04e01 “Split” – The Good Robot Andys

Discussion, with lots of spoilers of the film Split. Andy Balaam states that it is a light but entertaining sequel to Source Code but Andy Cockerill explain it’s a chilling psycho movie that, although it does feature “women in peril”, is not leering, and is very nicely made.

s03e21 “The Open Source Community” – The Good Robot Andys

What is Open Source? Why is it important? Andy Cockerill tries to to restrain Andy Balaam from rambling forever about Linux, Apache and all the cool things that power the Googles, Facebooks, and Amazons of the new world we are all living in. It’s all about Free Software.

s03e20 “Mute” – The Good Robot Andys

Discussion, with lots of spoilers of the film Mute. Andy Balaam thinks it’s a rollicking Disney adventure about a tiny mouse who can’t speak, but Andy Cockerill tells him it’s a very dark, edgy sci-fi with disturbing scenes, featuring a man who can’t speak trying to remain a decent human being under extreme pressure.
