We continue counting down the 30 best horror films of the 20th century. This time, numbers 24 to 22, which means we discuss, with some spoilers, the films Nosferatu, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and one of Andy B’s all-time favourite films, The Wicker Man.

Ooh I have seen The Wicker Man! Amazingly compelling and definitely deserves to be up there. Although you claim I have no right to comment!
Scream in my mind clearly deserves a place because it dissects horror conventions and is still quite scary (to me at least!!).
I have thought of two more suggestions… just because I’ve seen them… The Sixth Sense and Shutter Island.
And I guess I’m assuming Alien will be there. I’ve seen that too ;-)

Kathy it’s starting to sound like you have every right to comment – you are a dark horse, having watched many of the top thirty. Don’t look away or you’ll never become desensitised.

I liked The Sixth Sense and Shutter Island but if I had to guess I would say I think it’s unlikely we will see either in the top 30.

If Alien isn’t there I’m officially throwing a hissy fit.

Sadly Shutter Island was released in 2010 :( The Sixth Sense was released in 1999 and may or may not be on the list.

Oh I missed that possibility! 21st century films excluded. Shutter Island is another example of paranoid horror…
I saw the Wicker Man without seeing the poster first by the way :-)

Good point in Shutter Island being paranoid horror. I feel like there must be at least one Hitchcock that would qualify as that as well – maybe Vertigo? I thought I’d invented a new genre but it seems not.

I can’t believe you’ve seen the Wicker Man. Did it not give you nightmares?
