Feeling really lost about the absolute Truth

Unregistered User I sympathise. Isn't your church helping as a source of "dogma"?

It's another world that I enter for an hour and a half a week, where people still believe these things, and I can feel envious, or feel part of it and enjoy a break from the outside world. But it's just one voice among many.

Another odd thing is that no one seems to have any advice about how to find more certainty, beyond just carrying on and waiting for things to change, or reading books and trying to change my feelings by intellectually driven willpower.

Unregistered User Is it possible, in your context, for your church to act more like a community that you're part of all week?

Well, I could go to home group and prayer meetings and things during the week, so I get more exposure to Christians. Not sure how much that'd help. Maybe in a home group I might be allowed to moan a bit about my doubts.

Unregistered User I think working through doubts in community is very valuable. But beyond the issue of doubts, I wonder if a sense of just belonging to community would be very helpful. Christianity isn't an individual thing.

Yes, I do feel quite isolated. I wonder whether church could give me that sense of belonging. I suppose I ought to try it out sometime.

PS Does your church satisfy you in that way?

Unregistered User Parts of it. I wouldn't say 'satisfy', but 'partially help', certainly.
