Click on EditText and just type anything into the box and click Save.

Go on!

Hi punters,

What are you up to? I'm at work today (I'm an astronomer) trying to sort out various articles I've nearly finished for journals. Absorbing, but a bit stressful as some of my fellow-scientists are rather blunt in how they express their criticisms!

I'd never heard of wiki wiki web before - I'm taking a break now learning to use it. It's great, as I can contribute to the site at work; message to Andy: have you noticed that for the message board and articles, the text entry system doesn't turn up for Netscape under UNIX? Or is this only a problem for me here? As it is I can only contribute to those things from my laptop, which is why I'm not writing as much as I'd like :(

One other question: what happens in wiki if two people are editing at the same time? When one clicks save and goes away, then the other clicks save, will that undo the work of the former?

By no means - for who can undo the work of the Former?? - Midge

Bye for now,

DavidB :)

Hi DavidB - use Mozilla on UNIX - it's cool. Ask your sysadmin - I bet it's installed somewhere.

Saying that, I believe passionately in cross-browser-ness, and I feel terrible that this is happening. The same thing happens with NS4.78 on Linux. Oh no... Let me know if you can't find Mozilla and I'll dip into the PHP and try to fix. Don't have time for this! :-)

I've added your question to a WikiQuestions Page. Check out the answer there.

Thanks Andy - have installed Mozilla and can now enter text into the other parts of the site, thanks :) DavidB

The Volcano

Vibrations shook the ground and me;
In awe I dropped my cup of tea.

...I thought I was a bad poet till I read the back of my cereal packet. It's got a poem that begins:

"Less haste, more Alpen..." said the guard
As I whacked the window hard.

Not much random stuff on here lately, so I thought I'd just mention that 2 friends and me had a spontaneous '5-minute poetry-writing' competition about an hour ago. Here's my contribution:

Would that I were, would that I were,
in Abbey Road, that fine abode,
of Pete + Rich, + Andrew too,
the fine upstanding citizens of an erstwhile billabong of froth wherein I oft am wont to sup my beverage of fellow feeling. Procrustian bed of froth in which I cradle-like am nurtured till I spurn the likes of tittle tack.

Somewhat derivative, I know, but it's the best I could do at the time. (If you've heard me mention froth recently (well, foam) you'll know who posted this.)

As I sat and read your lines of prose
I pondered what I should write while picking my nose
To be witty, formal, funny or mad
I opted for four lines that made me look sad...

Dx

Good grief!! (BTW, one of the derivative things is that "Procrustian bed of froth" reminds me of a phrase from a poem DAvidB once wrote...)

Today I got an extra hour off in my lunch hour due to the fact that I miss read my timetable and so I am looking at this stuff for the first time and as far as I can see it is all crazy bonkers
however it is a good way for me to learn tricks from you "geeks" sorry "Geeks"who come this far into a website! I didn't expect it to work both ways.
I'm learning tab-*learning tab-*"learning"
